Earlier today, George R.R. Martin posted a strange picture up on his blog, of a dead King Kong, and many of us wondered what it might mean. To be honest, I thought I was going to be regailed with a gorgeous new photo and tale of primate hunting. I was also hoping a little for a mini short story about it too. But no — in fact, Martin has actually finished A Dance With Dragons, the eagerly awaited fifth book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series.

Here is where I do my happy dance of doom. Here is where I say that I WILL have a copy for myself.
