A Return to Grace

Dear Reader,

it has been some time since I have last graced the pages of this blog. It is a little funny as six years ago I began a grand experiment in an effort to recover something that had once been lost. It started with a conversation at 3 in the morning with some friends and a whole lot of coffee and cheese fries. Over the next few month since that initial conversation, I was able to realize that I did not have the same drive that I once had. It was like I had lost something.

At the time I was not sure what it was that I had lost, but it was a very empty space.

Thus, what had been dubbed the "Grand Experiment" by my friends, started. We had no real direction with what it was that we were doing, but I knew that there was going to be some wonder and that it would span universes. Little did I know how right that was.

This was the beginning of Amaretto Covington and her adventures with what I had dubbed an Artifact known as the "Genesis Glass". 2 AM in the morning was a great time to start up this idea. However, something happened to me that actually tore away my Eudaimon, the reason I wrote and what I wrote. It was a very rough moment for me. I will be honest - I struggled in those last few months, and even for almost a full year, I lost what I thought had been important to me. Now, it had been almost three years and I have finally once again recovered my Eudaimon - my reason and insanity within my writing.

I actually had a rather interesting conversation today and I was very happy in the conversation with what was said and what had happened. Today, for the first time in a very long time, I feel like I can start the stories among Amaretto and others once more. I have also recovered a lot of the ideas and made them a little more cohesive.

What I am rambling around and trying to say is, I am ready to start writing again and I am no longer afraid of what I might write any more.

Camp NaNoWriMo

So it is almost that time again in July, time for Camp! This year for Camp, I have two different novelizing ideas. As we all know, I am horrifically unable to make a decision. I am leaning more towards one than the other, but I also want some opinions. This means you get to vote!

So below are the two different ideas with their synopsis. Pick one and that one shall be what I write about this year!

OPTION 1

Piratica : Stella Furvus Part 2

The crew of the Stella Furvus has survived the planet that turned out to be a RoOT experiment, only to find out that the treasure they were looking for has been taken by someone else. The original crew members of Keiran and Pegasus need to go and see a member of their past who has made a large name for herself - Urania Percivel, the Pirate Queen. Sparks are set to fly when they meet with a former crew member. Will they be able to find the next piece of the Lucent Key or will this be the last mission for the Pirates of the Stella Furvus ever?

OPTION 2

Tenth Musae

In Capital City, under the rule of the Imprest, orphan Lethe "The Smoke" is the most impressive thief in the city. Able to steal anything for anyone, many people are looking for her for al sorts of reasons. When a request comes in from the King of Clubs however, Lethe is unable to turn down what might be the biggest job in her storied history - Steal something from the Ministry of Science and don't get caught. When she placed her hands on an item that was meant only for the CDF or City Defense Force. They will stop at nothing to get it back. Wine

Currently, I am at the Dry Mill Winery in Leesburg, Virginia. It is a rustic place that looks like it really was made in a barn. Do not expect to see the grapes this time of year, or pass the sprawling places where they are harvested. Instead, walk into a large chamber where they have their wines on display and the medals that their wines have won. Behind the bar top where you can order a glass or a tasting, expect the proprioters to happily pour you a glass with a smile and information on what you are tasting.

All in all, it is a great place for a quick stop to taste some of Northern Virginia's eclectic wine taste.

New Grain!

So I have updated with a new grain on Watpad! It is the begining of the new world of Pesok - the country of Sand. Go on, read it!

Moving on to something completely different, I would like for everyone to go and read something called Victory's Price. This is a stunning story written by the very tallented SamanthaJR. I would suggest that everyone also go and read her story as well.

Avengers *SPOILERS INSIDE*

So this past Thursday, I went on an amazing journey. This thursday, I participated much like thousands of others in AMC movie Theaters, in the Ultimates Marathon. This was a Movie extravaganza that allowed people to pay $40 and then watch all of the Marvel Ultimates movies that led up to the Avengers, and then culminate in a midnight showing of The Avengers. This was a fantastic idea, let me tell you, and I had an amazing time.

Let's start with teh basic premise of the whole idea. We first started at 11:30 with Iron Man. Awesome movie, kinda rehashed it and got everyone in the mood for the marathon. After that, they played The Incredible Hulk (2008). This movie had Edward Norton in it. This one is not to be confused with the 2003 movie simply titled Hulk as that one does not have any continuity from the Ultimates Universe and also did not star Liv Tyler.

As i had never before seen the Icredible Hulk (I know, strange right?) I actually quite enjoyed it a lot. I think I was very happy with this version due to original one dragging. I gotta say Ed was a much more convincing Hulk than Eric Bana. Also, the small Cameo by Lou was epicly hilarious. That man is still built like the Hulk and will forever be a part of Television History because of it. However I digress.

The next movie in the seiries is of course Iron Man 2. A little more powerful and action oriented than the first one and was a hell of a ride. The only thing that I was a little dissapointed in is the fact that Terrence Howard was no longer playing Rhodey. Don't get me wrong, I love Don Cheadle, but in this movie, he just seemed less himself.

Moving on from Iron Man 2 came my favorite movie of all: THOR! I absolutly adore this movie. I went to see it with my mom, I went to see it with my friends (three times, but you know, I only had to pay for two of those viewings) and I got to see it on teh big screen one more time and I was loving it. What is there not to liek about aliens secretly being the gods and goddesses from which we derive our Norse Mythos? Also, what is there not to like about Chris Hemsworth? He made Thor the most fantastic Avenger ever. I have ntohing more to say other than if you have not seen Thor, GO SEE IT.

After Thor, the only other movie I had not yet seen was played. This would be Captain America: The First Avenger. I was thouroughly impressedwith this movie. The only thing that threw me off though was Steve Roger's old body - that is to say Chris Evans with a really tiny what appeared to be cged body. His head was so big for his body and it looked sometiems like he was a bobble head and it was a little distracting before he got the Super Soldier serum. Other than that, I was very fascinated with the whole movie. It was a little hokey, considering it was suposed to take place durring World War II, and trying to make weapons with alien technology. However, I think that just made it a little less steampunk.

*SPOILERS AHEAD!!!*

Now onto what happened at Minight. After a day of nonstop movies, we started THE AVENGERS! the movies started with a BANG. No literally...

Nick Fury arrives at a S.H.I.E.L.D. remote research facility during an evacuation. Agent Maria Hill who is in command there, explains that the Tesseract, which is really this funky glowy cube that has god knows how much energy in it (Seen first in Captain America), has activated. When Fury gets into teh basement, it opens a portal and through it, the exiled Loki ( played by Tom Hiddleston and his amazing hair) steps out. Loki takes the Tesseract (which is supposed to be in the vault in Asguard), and uses this funky staff to control the minds of several S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel including agent Clint (Hawkeye), as well as physicist consultant Dr. Selvig in order to help him escape. Those two wind up with strange glowing eyes. And escape in spectacular fasion they do! A car chase in the underground bunker is included along with the eventual explosion that the Tesseract causes when the energy that is left over from the portal finally explodes.

In response to the attack, Fury reactivates the Avengers Initiative. Agent Natasha (code name: Black Widdow) is sent to India to recruit Dr. Bruce Banner. Mark Ruffalo has the grace to play Banner, and I have to say, while I was hoping for Edward Norton again, I think that Ruffalo, was actually a good choice. He brought a certain strangeness to the role of Banner, and made it more believeable that he was a nerd that had superpowers than anything else. Best part of this scene. Bruce pretends to go crazy and Natasha pulls out a gun on him. he tells her he's just kidding and she then tells everyone to stand down. What was once an empty shack in teh middle of India has been suddenly surrounded by like fifty personel in black suits with heavy guns. It was amazingly hilarious.

Agent Phil Coulson approaches Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr. - we love you too, but seriously, More Sherlock please!) and requests that he review Selvig's research. At this point we also get a grand view of the new Stark tower, which is a self sustainable property in New York. It also shows just how much tony likes to stroke his ego and we get a very funny scene with Pepper about the ownership and grand design of the tower and th percentage of how much of it aws Pepper's idea. tony, learn to keep your mouth shut one day. Fury himself approaches Steve Rogers (Captain America) with an assignment to retrieve the Tesseract from Loki.

There's a quick sidebar in the movie to explain things however now. Cut scene to a strange looking sewer somewhere in the world and we learn that in his exile, Loki encountered the Other, an alien conqueror who. The Other promised Loki that in exchange for the power of the Tesseract, he would give him an army of  Chitauri (an alien race) to subjugate Earth. YAY! We now have a plot. This is where everythign suddenly stops being slow and borign and then jumps into action.

Rogers, Stark and Romanoff travel to Germany, to apprehend Loki. Loki is recovering iridium needed to stabilize the Tesseract's power and demanding that the civilians kneel before him. An excelent monolouge is given about how we as a human race need to be subjugated. A single old man gets up off of his knees and says taht he will not bopw to Loki. Loki is about to destroy him when Captain America jumps on the scene and knocks Loki's power back at him. Iron Man soon joins up and after a small battle, Loki surrenders and is escorted back to a S.H.I.E.L.D. plane. On the plane ride back, Thor arrives and attempts to free Loki to reason with him. Stark and Rogers confront Thor in an amazing battle scene. It's all first Iron Man and Thor are beating each other up and Thor tries to use his lightnin, but it power Ton'ys suit up to like 400%. It's great. Loki is eventually returned to the Helicarrier (which by the way is friggin awesome as well!), a flying aircraft carrier, and placed in a cell designed to hold the Hulk.

The new Avengers are divided, both over how to approach Loki and the revelation that S.H.I.E.L.D. planned to harness the Tesseract to develop weapons as a deterrent against hostile extraterrestrials. As the group argues, Barton and Loki's other possessed agents attack the Helicarrier, disabling its engines in flight and causing Banner to transform into the Hulk. As Stark and Rogers try to restart the damaged engines, Thor attempts to stop the Hulk's rampage, and Romanoff fights Barton. During this fight, a blow to the head knocks Barton unconscious, breaking Loki's mind control. Loki escapes, killing Agent Coulson as he does so, and Thor and the Hulk are each ejected from the ship in their own way.

I have to say though, Coulson's death was very sad, but the way that they used it was masterful. Even his final lines as he blasts Loki with a gun that he doesn't understand what it's purpose is was fantastic. It was like a final hurrah.

Fury selfishly uses Coulson's death to motivate the Avengers and manipulate them into working as a team. Stark and Rogers realize that simply defeating the group will not be enough for Loki; he needs to overpower them in a very public way so as to validate himself as ruler of Earth. They liken Loki to a Primma Donna and realize that in order to make it public, he will use teh Avengers themselves. Using a device built by Selvig, Loki uses the Tesseract to open a portal to the Chitauri fleet over Manhattan, right from Stark Tower, summoning a Chitauri invasion.

The Avengers rally in defense of New York, but quickly realize they will be overwhelmed as wave after wave of the Chitauri descend upon Earth. Insert twenty minutes of whoop-ass here. Romanoff eventually makes her way to the portal, where Selvig is freed of Loki's control. He reveals that he put in a failsafe to stop all of this and that Loki's staff can be used to close the portal.

Meanwhile, Fury's superiors attempt to end the invasion by launching a nuclear missile at Manhattan. Typical. Everything can be solved by a nuke. Stark intercepts the missile and takes it through the portal toward the Chitauri fleet before running out of power and plummeting back to Earth, but the Hulk catches him as he falls. Thor escorts Loki and the Tesseract back to Asgard, while Fury notes that the Avengers will go their separate ways until such time as a new world-threatening menace emerges.

In a post-credits scene, the Other confers with his master (Ohmigawdit'sThanos!) about the attack on Earth.

*SPOILERS END*

It was a fantastic movie and everyone wants to go see it. You should all go see it. I'm still so giddy!

The Begining of a Grand New Arc!

Tonight marks the Final Grain in the "New Machina Arc" in Amaretto's Tale. I tried to make it so tha there were no unanswered questions, but I do have to say that I might have left it open just enough for Amaretto to possibly come back to the Second Great British Empire. When that might happen; I will be honest and say, I don't know how the travels will be going. It you would like to read the whole "New Machina Arc" from the begining, then I have the links right here:

Amaretto's Tale Beginning

New Machina

Moving on, I am now ready to start the newest arc: Pesok of the Sands! The Grand Race Challenge!

Sorry, I wanted a better name than what I had been going with and lately, I have felt the need to fill the Penny Dreadful shoes of this story. So, I have also renamed the New Machina Arc as well. it is now called, The Second Great British Empire - New Machina! The First World Adventure!

I know it sounds silly, but tell me what you think.
